Weld RE-4 Parents and Guardians,

Thank you for your patience as we navigate what sports will look like at the middle school level during the school year.  There are many factors that were considered as to how we will provide a safe environment for students to compete in sports.  While we know things may continue to change, we wanted to share the current tentative schedule for middle school sports.

  • Cross Country: The season will run from August 17 through October 1.  We will max each school team at 50 runners to meet district, league, and CHSAA guidelines.

  • Girls Basketball: Tentatively scheduled for January 4 through February 5.

  • Wrestling: Tentatively scheduled for January 4 through February 5.

  • Boys Basketball: Tentatively scheduled for February 8 through March 11.

  • Swimming: Tentatively scheduled for March 15 through April 24

  • Volleyball: Tentatively scheduled for March 15 through April 22

  • Football: Tentatively scheduled for Mid-March through May
  • Track: Tentatively scheduled for April 20 through May 20

Please be aware that this is an ever-changing situation, and the dates may fluctuate.   While we know this isn’t ideal, we felt providing a season for each sport, even if shortened, was in the best interest of all of our student athletes.  All sports will still have a $75 fee, and the participation form and a current sports physical is still needed.  Please contact the respective school with your questions.

Thank you for your support and patience.

To participate in any sport you must complete the following before the first day of practice:

  1. Complete the SMS Physical - Sports Participation form (front and back)
  2. Pay the $75.00 Athletic participation fee

All participants for Football, Cross Country, Swimming, Wrestling and Track are guaranteed to play. Boys' and Girls' Basketball and Volleyball are cut sports. Participants must try out to make a team. This is due to lack of gym space, the cost of transportation, the cost of officials and supervision issues.
