I joined Severance Middle School in 2017. I am looking forward to working with a wonderful community of students, staff and families. SMS is a school where students Think, Question, and Respond through Respect, Responsibility, and Connections. Our vision is to Engage & Empower all Hawks academically, socially, and emotionally with life-long essential skills. We value and will continue to build relationships, engage students in learning and growing as individuals, and strive for excellence by “Inspiring Innovation, Empowering Success”.

I began my career in education in 1999 and spent seventeen of those years in the Thompson School District as a teacher, coach, Dean, Assistant Principal and Director of Professional Learning and Assessment. I am blessed to have the opportunity to now work with the amazing community of Weld Re4 and Severance.

I grew up in the Black Hills of South Dakota and have lived in beautiful Colorado for twenty years. I have a wonderful family that consists of my husband Ryan, who teaches and coaches in Thompson School District, and three kids, Tyson, Peyton, and Maycee. We enjoy spending time together playing and watching sports, being active, traveling, and we love to hang out with extended family and friends.

I joined the Severance Middle School Hawk family in 2013. I am the Assistant Principal and Athletic Director.  I assist in day-to-day discipline and attendance issues, and work with staff and students to improve teaching and learning every day.  I came to SMS from Windsor High School where I taught PE/Health for 7 years and was the Dean of Students for 1 year.  I love my Hawk Family and all the amazing things that make SMS the great school that is.

I grew up and graduated from Windsor and Weld Re4 and I am passionate about the work that the district and SMS do every day to empower students to be life long learners and find passions for learning and growing.

I have a wonderful husband, Dean, who teaches and coaches at Eaton High School.  Our three boys, Scott, Zac, and Will keep us busy with all their extracurricular activities.  We enjoy any kind of sport, playing in the water, skiing, wake-boarding, tubing, etc., riding horses, camping, four-wheeling and spending time together as a family.

Ms. Donahoo joined the Windsor School District in 2005. She spent four glorious years at Windsor Middle School as a School Counselor and Coach.  She is currently the School Counselor at Severance Middle School, as well as coaches Volleyball this year. She is also the athletic director and handles everything to do with all sports.

Ann Donahoo grew up in Cortez, Colorado near the four corners area, where her grandmother and parents still reside.  After graduating High School from Montezuma Cortez High School, she went to Fort Lewis College and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology.  After completing her degree she moved to New York and truly enjoyed exploring the East Coast.  In 2001 she moved to Denver and decided to pursue a degree in counseling.  Once in Denver, she began attendance at the University of Northern Colorado (Denver Campus).  In 2005, she received a Masters degree in both School Counseling and Community Counseling with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy.  In 2017 she earned a master's degree in educational leadership.

In her free time, she enjoys playing sports, especially volleyball and tennis.  Ann spends the majority of her free time with friends and traveling to new places. She really enjoys reading (Twilight series and the Hunger Games series), music, concerts, and movies.

Ms. Heather Dwelle

Heather is passionate about helping students to be their “personal best” and ensuring that students feel a sense of safety and belonging at school as they navigate their middle school years. This will be her 11th year as a middle school counselor. Heather has previously worked as an AmeriCorps volunteer and team leader, a special education paraprofessional, a substitute teacher, a counselor in a residential setting, a school counselor in Thompson School District and as a mental health therapist in community mental health centers. She possesses a bachelor of science degree in Natural Resource Management and a masters’ degree in school counseling. She is a licensed professional school counselor and a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in the state of Colorado. Although she is a native of New Jersey, she has lived in Colorado for almost 20 years. Sadly, her Jersey accent is gone, but she can still rattle off a long list of famous people from New Jersey. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, her dogs, and friends and family. She enjoys yoga, traveling, gardening, walking her dogs (and just watching her dogs), cooking, reading, hiking, cross-country skiing, knitting, and dogs. She might love dogs as much as she loves children. She sometimes chews gum much too loudly, rarely wears white even if it is before Labor Day because she is guaranteed to stain white clothing, and is willing to drive far to find good pizza. She loved her first year of being a Hawk and the sense of community she found here and looks forward to the second.
