We want all students to feel comfortable while engaging in learning during the school day, while still being allowed to express themselves within the parameters of school. In order to create a safe and effective learning environment, students are expected to meet the following expectations regardless of gender:

  1. Students are expected to show good daily hygiene.
  2. Students may not wear clothing with inappropriate logos, slogans, phrases, words, symbols, and/or suggestive images (examples: those promoting drugs, alcohol, weapons, or discrimination).
  3. Students should wear clothing that covers all of their undergarments.
  4. Students should not wear clothes that are see-through.
  5. Students should not wear hats, hoods, or headdresses in the building.
  6. Students can color their hair and/or have facial jewelry as long as it is deemed to be non-disruptive to the learning environment to be determined by the administration and/or classroom teachers.
  7. Students should wear shorts that appropriately cover all areas when engaging in regular school day activities, to be determined by the administration and/or classroom teachers (shorts must be as long as their arms extended into a fist).
  8. Students should wear skirts/dresses that are as long as their arms extended to their fingertips and appropriately cover all areas when engaging in regular school day activities to be determined by the administration and/or classroom teachers.
  9. Students should wear shirts that cover their chest, stomach, and back while engaging in the regular school day activities, to be determined by the administration and/or classroom teachers.
  10. Students should not wear or show gang-related or gang-affiliated items at any point during the school day, at school-sponsored activities, or on school grounds. This includes but is not limited to slits shaved in eye brows, bandanas, etc.
  11. Students should wear tank tops that cover their chest, stomach, and back with straps that are wide enough to conceal the majority of their shoulders (3 fingers width is a good rule of thumb). Racerback style tank tops should not be worn to school.
  12. Students should wear shoes conducive to the environment to ensure proper footing (no bedroom slippers or plastic/foam flip flops)

If you have questions about whether a garment would be school appropriate, the administration would be happy to verify prior to wearing said garment.

If it is deemed a student has not met the expectations, the student will be asked to correct the violation.  Sometimes a parent may be notified if the situation cannot be rectified at school.
