Our School Day
Pick-up / Drop-off Procedures
For the safety of the students, please use a courtesy traffic pattern and look over your shoulder a few times while managing the traffic flow. We ask that families pull all the way up to the flagpole. As your student is picked up, you can merge out into the left lane of the loop to leave. At the same time, families can drive in from the left lane to replace cars in the front. If your pick-up spot is in the parking lot, please encourage your student to use the crosswalk located by the front doors. Please drive slowly through the pick-up loop to ensure the safety of everyone. Only drop off or pick students up from the front of the school to avoid any issues with our buses in the back. Remember, handicap parking spaces should be left open at all times. These spaces should not be used at any time to drop-off or pick-up students unless you have a placard.
Attendance Policy
Students are expected to be present and engaged in learning each and every school day. Regular and on-time attendance is an important factor in student achievement and success. It is the obligation and responsibility of parents / guardians to ensure that every child 6 - 17 years old attends public school during each school year (C.R.S. 22-33-104).
Excused Absences
Students may miss school for illness or injury, pre-arranged absences that cannot be taken care of outside school hours, work-study programs, or a school-sponsored activity.
If your child will be absent from school please notify the school in one of the following two ways:
- Preferred Method: Request absences via Campus Parent to notify school staff of an expected student absence. Select "More" from the navigation. Next, select "Absence Requests." Then, fill out the form and submit.
- Call the school attendance line at 970-833-7205 by 9 a.m.
Unexcused Absences
A student with four or more unexcused absences from school in any one month or 10 unexcused absences during any school year will be considered “habitually truant.” We will notify the parents / guardians in writing of the absences, and, in partnership with parents / guardians, will develop a plan to address attendance issues and discuss consequences for further unexcused absences.
For more information on attendance, visit Board Policy JE.
